The leading house boasts many years of experience in applied research and in developing of innovative didactic environments. Since 2000 it has in particular been created a centre of competence (New media Didactics Service, then merged in eLab) in Lugano. The affiliated Fern Fachhoch Schule holds exclusively distance courses since more than eight years.

SUPSI has been managing many SVC projects both in the role of leading house and in that of project and user partner.

Professors belonging to the Mathematics and Physics area within the Department of New Technologies have a long training in teaching Numerical Mathematics to Engineering students. Moreover some of them perform research activities within the field of Numerical Analysis.
